Changes in the IT infrastructure may occur due to problems, compliance with legislative mandates, or in the attainment of improved efficiency and effectiveness in support to business and service improvement initiatives. Managing change successfully, especially in a complex environment where teams handling IT assets and activity requests are geographically dispersed, is a big challenge as risks are inherent in its implementation. When changes do not go as planned, they can cause problems ranging from not meeting set deadlines to significant financial losses.
